New Secondary Frameworks website now available

New interactive website for subject leaders and teachers of English, mathematics, science and ICT from the National Strategies

The National Strategies have launched a new website that includes renewed Frameworks for secondary English, mathematics, science and ICT. The first phase of the website went live on 6 May 2008.

The renewed Secondary Frameworks form the centrepiece of the professional development offered to secondary schools by the National Strategies in 2008/09 to assist schools in introducing the new secondary curriculum. The Frameworks provide accessible and interactive resources to support improvement in the progress of all pupils in the core subjects.

The resources include:

  • an interactive element based on lines of progression in learning objectives to support planning schemes of work, and to develop medium and short term planning

  • links to essential subject guidance and materials, and to key external websites

  • case studies and exemplification of effective planning (available from September 2008).

The renewed Secondary Frameworks contain a foreword from the Schools' Minister, Jim Knight, in which he says:

'…the Frameworks will provide the flexibility for schools to make a professional judgment about how they are used, and can adapt them to their own ways of working, their strengths, and the specific challenges that they face. I urge all secondary schools to make the most of this invaluable resource.'

You can access the Frameworks website at www.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/secondary/frameworks.
