Website highlights new community cohesion duty

This autumn's National Curriculum website update includes useful guidance to help schools meet their new duty to promote community cohesion.

The following new guidance and resources have been uploaded to the National Curriculum website, key stages 3 and 4, this September 2008.

Identity and cultural diversity

The identity and cultural diversity dimension pages have been redeveloped and reorganised so that they are easier to follow. The guidance includes a PDF to help schools plan for this dimension of their curriculum.

Community cohesion

We have added guidance on the new duty to promote community cohesion to the identity and cultural diversity dimension pages. Two useful case studies, Controversy in the community and Increasing participation in PE give examples of how real schools promote community cohesion through their curriculum.
