Gymnastic activities - Ruby

Activity Description

The teacher asked the pupils to choose at least three actions and link these to make a sequence on the floor and apparatus.

Ruby included stepping, jumping, sliding, rolling and two still shapes in her full sequence. She chose most of the content of the sequence herself using actions with which she was familiar. The teacher suggested a jump was put in at the start of the sequence, to give some variety to the overall sequence.

Activity Objectives

To choose at least three actions and link these to make a movement phrase on the floor and apparatus.

Commentary

Ruby’s sequence of linked actions shows that she remembers and repeats simple skills and actions with increasing control and coordination. She applies these skills in sequence and uses the space safely on the floor and apparatus. To make progress, Ruby needs to develop the range of her skills and actions and demonstrate her ability to use changes of speed, level and direction effectively.
