Gymnastic activities: evaluation - Gareth

Activity Description

The teacher asked Gareth to evaluate the part played by both himself and Lloyd in a gymnastic sequence. The short sequence had to use a variety of equipment, include different actions, changes in level, speed and direction, and contact with a partner.

The video clip shows the middle of Gareth’s sequence. Gareth's evaluation focuses here on Lloyd’s part of the sequence. He had previously evaluated elements of his own performance in the sequence.

Activity Objectives

To evaluate the part played by both himself and Lloyd in the sequence and identify strengths and weaknesses of the sequence.

Commentary

Gareth focuses on Lloyd’s control, particularly in terms of Lloyd's cartwheels and jumps, and his timing. Earlier in the evaluation Gareth gave an account of what they had both achieved, stating that their overall control was good and that the changes of speed were also good. However, Gareth misses some of the main features for development in his evaluation and he does not seem to have a clear understanding of the strengths and weaknesses.
