The new secondary curriculum offers real opportunities for schools to innovate and build on the good practice that already exists in schools.
The curriculum should be seen in its widest sense as the entire planned learning experience. This includes formal lessons as well as the events, routines, visits and learning that take place outside of the classroom and beyond the school. The new secondary curriculum recognises that the ethos of the school and approaches to assessment, teaching and learning, and behaviour also represent powerful learning experiences for young people.
